Is a Tummy Tuck for You?

Are you one of those people that only have to look at donut to put weight on but has to work hard to take even a pound of your weight. Some people are just born that way and just cant loose weight when they want too, others it will just roll off them if they miss breakfast people are different and respond differently to diets, medication and the latest slimming crazes. If you are one of these people who has tried just about everything and are now considering an abdominoplasty  more commonly known as a tummy tuck there are quite a few questions you should ask of  yourself  and others before going ahead with this procedure.

One of the first things you should be aware of is the tummy tuck procedure is now classed as major surgery. Anyone who is contemplating this surgery should be in reasonable physical condition before going ahead with this surgery; it is probably advisable to have a check up done by your own doctor to determine your condition.

The tummy tuck procedure is not a long one but this can depend on each individual case and the extent of the work involved, and if any unforeseen complications should arise during surgery. There are a few things that you should bear in mind you will be left with a rather large scar, which will not disappear. Although in time, it will fade and become less apparent. Some people even have surgery later to hide this scar but most people are happy to hide it from view with underwear and swimwear.

After your surgery, you should refrain from lifting or carrying anything heavy for a minimum period of two weeks or as directed by your surgeon.

When choosing a surgeon be sure to ask plenty of questions so you have a full understanding of what you are getting into and what results to expect from your surgery. Ask to see pictures of before and after shots of previous patients who have had the same procedure as you. Is the surgeon you have chosen experienced at the type of surgery you require?  Does he have a good reputation? Do you feel comfortable with him? Do you fell as though you can trust him? These are all important questions, which you should find the answers too. Ask what exactly are you paying for and what is included and what is not included, for instance are any follow up appointments after the surgery included or are these to considered extras. Will you have any further costs for any other treatment or drugs? You need to know these things before your surgery so you can budget.

The costs of a tummy tuck in   the United States ranges from $4,000 to $8,500 + depending on which state you live in. Many surgeons will work with you regarding the cost and some even offer finance plans to help you pay for your surgery.
